PDO THREADS

What is the Treatment?

A PDO thread lift is a revolutionary new treatment in the world of aesthetics.

PDO thread lifts once performed, result in instant skin lifting. Secondly, it contracts fat tissue to result in instant skin tightening. Thirdly, it promotes collagen production and neovascularisation to renew your skin at the cellular level. All of these three combined together give you an enhanced skin texture, fewer fine lines and wrinkles and more elasticity in the skin.

How Does It Work?

PDO Thread lifting is a minimally invasive procedure that involves lifting sagging skin from different parts of the face, neck and body using special self absorb-able threads.

The “threads” are inserted just under the skin’s surface into the sub-dermis layer during the thread lift facial procedure. These bio stimulating threads anchor to the skin, keeping it in place as the threads are pulled to create a smoother and tighter appearance. Made from PDO (Polydioxanone), they also stimulate a collagen production response.

This non-surgical face lift, lifts and tightens your skin, giving back its strength and elasticity and providing you with a noticeably younger-looking appearance.

Treatment Time

30 mins to 1.5 hours depending on which procedure you desire

Treatment Cost

£250 to £600 depending on which areas are treated.

Multiple areas can be treated at the same time.

What to Expect

You will be advised in advance to avoid alcohol and painkillers at least 5 days before your procedure, along with anything else that may increase the risk of bleeding or bruising, such as:

  • ibuprofen

  • aspirin

  • omega-3 fatty acids

  • green tea or green tea extracts

On the day of your procedure, your therapist will talk you through the potential complications and give you advice about your recovery.

The following steps will then be taken:

  1. As you sit in a reclined seat, your therapist will disinfect your face with alcohol. They’ll apply a local anaesthetic with a needle underneath your skin.

  2. Your therapist will make a small incision with another needle and then insert a device called a cannula into the small hole.

  3. Your therapist will anchor the thread into place, massage upwards and then pull out the cannula.

  4. They’ll finish by cutting the thread and making sure it’s secure in place.

These steps will be taken multiple times, over the treatment areas. When finished, the therapist will clean the area before showing the client the immediate effects.

Down Time

Recovery from a PDO thread lift is minimal. You may have some swelling and bruising for the first 24 to 48 hours but you can return to most of your daily routines right away.

Tenderness is expected for up to two weeks after treatment. Take Paracetamol if there is any tenderness or discomfort

Aftercare Advice

Avoid rubbing your face as much as possible the week after your procedure to avoid accidently dislodging the thread. Avoid making exaggerated facial movements, pursing your lips, smoking, and drinking through a straw for the first two weeks after treatment.

Other activities to be avoided for 2 weeks, include sleeping on your side, intense exercise, and visiting sunbeds or saunas.

Sleeping with your head propped on a pillow can help you avoid accidentally rolling onto your face during the middle of the night.
